Three arrested for threatening to blow up temple in Junagadh

Junagadh, Gujarat, Mar 11 (UNI) Police today nabbed three persons, including a couple, for threatening to blow up a temple and kill its priest in Syed Wada area of the town.

The three -- Mehboob Sheikh, Shabbir Yusuf Pathan and his wife Aasuma -- had entered the Guru Nanak temple run by the Baba Thakurdas Trust of the Sindhi Samaj while the devotees were offering prayers this morning and hurled abuses at them.

They asked them to stop listening to ''bhajans'' and threatened to blow up the temple and kill its priest Ram Gopal.

The three, who are residents of the same area, were arrested in the evening under IPC sections 506 (2) for threatening to kill the priest. They have been charged under IPC sections 504, 295 and under 114 of the Bombay Police Act, police said.
