Haryana to soon connect with tele-medicine system of AIIMs

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) All the District-level Government hospitals of Haryana would be connected to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here under tele-medicine system in the near future.

AIIMS Director Dr P Venugopal announced this at the inaugural session of the three-day conference on ''International Minimal Access Surgery and Live Workshop'' organised by the Indian Hernia Society here yesterday.

Dr Venugopal said that with implementation of the tele-medicine system, patients from Haryana would now be able to have opinion and treatment of specialists on telephone without travelling to New Delhi.

Expressing his gratitude to Dr Venugopal, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said that the benefits of the laproscopic surgery needed to reach out from the tertiary hospitals located in metropolitan cities to those located in the districts.

He further said that there was a need to look ahead and explore the regions of Robatically Assisted Surgeries. The Indian surgeons and computer experts needed to work in tandem for bringing the improved and less expensive instruments to the common man.

Mr Hooda said that only then the new technology would be relevant to the residents of small towns and settlements.

The Chief Minister announced a financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh from his discretionary fund for Indian Hernia Society.

The new technique being adopted for surgery is less painful, requires less cutting and stitches and takes less time in recovery of the patients.
