WB to attract Rs 1000 cr investment in non-conventional energy secto
Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) The non-conventional energy sector in West Bengal will attract an investment of Rs 1,000 crore over the next three years, West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WBREDA) director S P Gon Chaudhuri said today.
The state will invite private entrepreneurs to set up non-conventional energy projects up to a capacity of 50 MW, Mr Gon Chaudhuri said at renewable energy seminar here.
The seminar was organized by the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the India Energy Forum.
The projects will later connected with the grid, the WBREDA director said.
The state government last year offered the private sector 80 MW of projects. The state presently has a capacity of 40-45 MW in the sector.
Another 60 MW will be added by next year, Mr Gon Chaudhuri said.
The total power generated from renewable sources will be 100 MW by 2008. It will go up to 250 MW by by 2012, he added.
