Health Minister Chandrika Rai announced in the state Assembly that vigilance committees would be formed at block and district levels to ensure presence of doctors in hospitals. He said modalities in this regard would be finalised soon.
Earlier members had suggested for constitution of committees to prevent doctors from remaining absent from the hospitals during their duty period.
RJD member Jagdanand Singh said rural people were still deprived of basic health facilities despite crores of rupees being spent in health sector annually.
Mr Singh expressed concern over the issue and suggested that committees be constituted under the chairmanship of MLAs to monitor the presence of doctors in hospitals in their respective areas.
