TTD to accord priority to pilgrims facilities

Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 10 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Trust Board today decided to give main priority to the pilgrims facilities and accommodation, besides construction of more choultries for pilgrims for 2006-07.

Addressing newspersons after the board meeting, board Chairman and Union Minister T Subbarami Reddy said the board haD decided to construct 20,000 rpt 20,000 more choultries for accommodation of the pilgrims with participation of public and private persons.

Mr Reddy said the board also decided to take steps that only lady volunteers would push the women pilgrims at inside the temple and also decided to arrange break darsan for saints and sadhus, who were coming from across country for darsan.

Earlier saints and sadhus had no separate queue for darsan, he said.

Mr Reddy said the board instructed the Special Officer, Dharma Reddy to inspect the mutts, which are in temple premises, and take necessary action if it violates dharmic principles and hurt temple sentiments.

In view of the recent bomb blast at Varanasi and threats from the terrorists, the board had given free hand to TTD Chief Vigilance Officer balakrishna for upgradation of security arrangements at the temple, the Chairman added.
