Jodhpur, Mar 10 (UNI) A local court here has stayed the sentence of one year imprisonment awarded to actor Salman Khan in the black buck killing case.

Acting District and Sessions Magistrate Yashpal Choudhury while admitting Salman's appeal against the sentence yesterday, has stayed the sentence. The next hearing will be held on April 12.

Chief Judicial Magistrate Brijendra Kumar Jain had sentenced Salman to one year imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 5000 on February 17, after holding the actor guilty of killing two black bucks in Mawad village in Mathania range in the intervening night of September 26 and 27, 1998.

Salman's counsel Hastimal Saraswat submitted in the appeal that since the seven other accused in the case including actor Satish Shah had been released on benefit of doubt, then why should Salman be the only one penalised.
