Stage set for Buddha Mahotsava
Itanagar, Mar 10 (UNI) With only two days left for the formal inauguration of the three-day Buddha Mahotsava beginning March 13 at Chongkham in Arunachal's Lohit district, the countdown to the eco-spiritual-cultural mega event has begun.
According to official Sources State Governor S K Singh would inaugurate the festival as the chief guest, while Chief Minister Gegong Apang would be the guest of honour.
The Ambassador of Royal Thai Embassy Chiraksak Thanesnant, who would also be the guest of honour in the inaugural event, is expected to arrive a day before the main event to witness the robing ceremony of the Buddhist monks, sources informed.
Noted Bharat Natyam exponent Rasika Mohan is also performing in the festival apart from being the special guest.
Combined with package tours, the festival would offer the optimum opportunities to the tourists and would cater to their every interest - tour to Namdapha wildlife sanctuary, Parasuram Kund, elephant safari, boat safari.
Besides these, the festival would highlight on open air traditional folk dances, fashion show, traditional food stalls of the famed local cuisine, traditional games and sports, exhibition of traditional huts and handloom and handicrafts, eco-run, Bhaona the traditional Tai Khampti open air dance-drama among others, sources added.
