SBIOA to go on indefinite strike from April three

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 10 (UNI) The entire staff, including officers' of the State Bank of India will go on an indefinite strike from next month, demanding immediate revision of pension, State Bank of India Officers Association (SBIOA) general secretary M Sreenath said today.

The SBI staff in the country and nearly 75,000 pensioners and their family would take part in the nationwide agitation on April 3, he said in a statement here.

Mr Sreenath said pension had not been not revised for the last 13 years.

The other demands raised by the organisation, included issue of 50 per cent pension of the last salary, allowing commutation as existed in banking industry and providing reasonable family pension, he said.

Ahead of the strike, the association would observe March 18 as a ''protest day'' and organise a dharna before the local head office and zonal office of the Bank on March 21.

The Association would sent telegrams to the Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Reserve Bank of India Governor in this regard, the release added.
