Lucknow, Mar 10 (UNI) The Congress today alleged Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was helping the five accused of the Ayodhya fidayeen case by not passing orders to book them under charges including treason.

The memorandum, sent to the Union Home Minister and state government claimed that most of the quintet were arrested by the police in July, shortly after the attack on July 5, 2005.

''But they have appeared in a Faizabad court on several occasion...their judicial custody is extended every time as the police have not been able to frame charges,'' the memorandum said.

Congress claimed the file to frame charges under various laws is still pending with Mr Yadav.

It quoted the court criticising the attitude of the state government for not being able to file chargesheet.

The memorandum, signed by UPCC chief spokesperson A P Singh, demanded stringent action from the Home Minister and the governor on this matter of ''national security.'' UNI NAB VS VD HT1930
