Mixed response for Dakshina Kannada dist bandh

Mangalore, Mar 10 (UNI) The Dakshina Kannada district bandh, called by the district unit of the Rashtriya Yuva Sena in protest against the bomb blast in a temple in Varanasi, evoked mixed response today.

While all private and moffusil buses remained off the road, Government buses and private vehicles plied normally. Autorickshaws did roaring business as city buses did not operate. More than 50 per cent of the shops and business establishments did normal business.

However, as a precauctionary measure, several educational institutions remained closed.

Superintendent of Police Dayanand said the situation was peaceful with no report of any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, some minor incidents of stone pelting and road blockades were reported in some parts of the city.
