Marine Drive rape case: Hearing adjourned to March 13

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Additional Sessions Judge K U Chandiwal today adjourned the hearing of the infamous Marine Drive rape case to March 13.

Defence counsel Prakash Vagh contended that since the prosecution submitted a written argument against the accused's statement today, it needed some time to study the matter.

The accused, in his statement to the court, had pleaded that he was innocent and falsely implicated in this case, he said and added that on March 13, the defence would argue against the prosecution's replies.

Judge Chandiwal, who has been assigned to hear the rape case, has completed recording the statement of the dismissed constable Sunil Atmaram More, who was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl on April 21 last year inside the police outpost at Marine Drive in South Mumbai.

Earlier, the court had completed the examination of 27 witnesses in this case.

After the incident, city police Commissioner A N Roy had dismissed More from the service.
