K'taka Govt convenes meeting of Medical Education Dept
Raichur, Karnataka, Mar 10 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has decided to convene a high-level meeting of the Department of Medical Education in Bangalore on March 15 to discuss the steps to be taken to start the proposed six Government medical colleges from the next academic year.
Informing this to newspersons after inspecting work on the Government medical college building here last evening, State Sports and Youth Services Minister Hanumanthappa Alkod said the Government had released funds for buildings and other infrastructure for the colleges in Belgaum, Mandya, Bidar, Raichur, Hassan and Shimoga.
He said there was a proposal to bring the physical instructors in Government schools and colleges, currently attached to the Education department, under the Department of Sports and Youth Services. A decision on this would be taken soon by the Cabinet, he added.
Earlier, Mr Alkod inspected the district civil hospital and discussed with the district surgeons about upgrading the hospital.
He also inspected the Rajiv Gandhi super-speciality hospital here.
