HC orders notice to Pondy CS

Chennai, Mar 10 (UNI) The Madras High Court today admitted a petition seeking a direction to the Pondicherry government to take action on the report of the Additional District Magistrate on the suicide of an Engineering course.

Mr Justice F M Ibrahim Kalifullah, who admitted the petition filed by K Rukumani, ordered notice returnable within four weeks to the Pondicherry chief secretary and others.

According to the petitioner, her son S Irwin Pyari Abivarma, first year student of B.Tech committed suicide following his poor performance in his second semester examinations.

Following a complaint from parents, the Collector/District Magistrate, Pondicherry, appointed Additional District Magistrate as the inquiry officer.

According to the inquiry report, the revaluation of the answer sheets showed the deceased student had secured 61 marks out of 75 and not 22 as had been declared in the result. The report recommended action against principal of the college Ravi Kumar.
