Hariharan chosen for P Jayachandran-Jeevan award
Kochi, Mar 10 (UNI) Popular singer Hariharan has been chosen for this year's P Jayachandran-Jeevan award for outstanding contribution to the field of music.
The award, instituted by popular Malayalam television channel 'Jeevan', consists of Rs one lakh in cash, the channel's Chief Operating Officer Christopher George announced at a press conference here yesterday.
The award would be presented to the noted 'ghazal' singer and fusion musician at a function in Thiruvananthapuram in the third week of May, he said.
'Jeevan' had instituted the award last year and the first recipient was popular playback singer K S Chitra.
Also present at the presss conference were renowned singer P Jayachandran, in whose honour the award has been instituted, Jeevan director Issac Joseph and jury members Manoharan, Jayaraj Warrier and Sanal Potty.
