Govt spent more than one crore on security of separatist leaders

Jammu, Mar 10 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government spent more than Rs one crore last year on the security of Hurriyat Conference (mirwaiz faction) and ten other separatist leaders from the Kashmir Valley who are questioning the state's accession to India.

State Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad replying to Nizam-Ud-Din in the Legislative Council today said 10 leaders of different ideologies are being provided security on the basis of their individual threat perception and government spends an average of Rs one lakh per month on each leader.

He further said Mirwaiz Umar Farooq (Hurriyat Conference -Mirwaiz faction), Prof Abdul Gani Bhat (Hurriyat Conference -Mirwaiz faction), Moulvi Abbas Ansari (Hurriyat Conference-Mirwaiz Faction), Sajad Gani Lone (People Conference Party), Bilal Gani Lone (Hurriyat Conference- Mirwaiz Faction), Shabbir Ahmed Shah (Democratic Freedom Party), Saleem Gilani (Hurriyat Conference) AGA Syed Husain Moulvi (Hurriyat Conference), Hasim Qureshi (Separatist) and Yaqoob Vakeel (Separatist) have demanded security and the State Government spent Rs 1,00.87 839.00 during 2005.

Earlier MLC Nizam-Ud-Din asked the government during the question hour whether the government is provieding security to leaders who question the state's accession to India.
