Agra, Mar 10 (UNI) Congress' Uttar Pradesh affairs in charge and former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot today called upon party workers to gear up for UP assembly polls.
Addressing party activists here, he also emphasised that for instilling confidence among people for supporting Congress, it was important to make the organisation strong at the grassroots.
UP Congress Committee (UPCC) president Salman Khurshid claimed the days of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government were numbered and the people of the state would soon be ''delivered from the Samajwadi Party's misrule.'' ''The law and order situation in the state is lying in tatters and mafias are calling the shots. UP has virtually become a haven for terrorists...the Varanasi incident is the latest example,'' he alleged.
