Ganguly not to campaign for CPI(M), focused on cricket
Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) Former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly today made it clear that he will not be campaigning for any party and was focused on getting back into the national squad.
Speculations were rife that he might joing CPI(M)'s poll campaign for the coming assembly elections in the state after veteran leader Sitaram Yechuri indicated to this effect in New Delhi today.
''I have talked to Mr Yechuri over phone and have clarified the whole thing. I am not going to campaign for any political party,'' Ganguly said talking to the media at an impromptu press meet at his residence here this evening.
''I have personal relations with CPI(M) leaders like Sitaram Yechuri, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, Ashok Bhattacharya and Somnath Chatterjee. Personal relations have nothing to do with campaigns,'' he added.
''And honestly speaking CPI(M) doesn't need me to campaign for them to win the polls,'' he said.
