Date of Advance Tax payment extended by a day

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) The government today extended by a day the last date for the payment of Advanced Tax for 2005-06 relating to Corporate tax, Income Tax, and Fringe Benefit Tax as well as the Banking Cash Transactions Tax (BCT) by a day, the due date of March 15 being a public holiday.

In such cases, the mandatory interest for default in payment of advance tax would not be charged, a release said here.

"The taxpayers may deposit payments of advance tax, Banking Cash Transaction Tax on or before March 16, 2006, with the authorized banks and wherever the payments have been made on or +before March 16, 2006, such payments would be deemed to have been made by the due date as prescribed under the Income Tax Act, 1961," the release said.
