Dacoit threat to murder former MP minister

Bhopal, Mar 10(UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government today told the Assembly that the police was probing former state minister Choudhary Rakesh Singh, complaint that he faced a threat to his life from dacoits Ruby Chouhan and Ravisen Jain.

Minister of State for Home Nagendra Singh said the government had already sought explanation from Bhind police about its lapse in not registering a case against Ruby for giving shelter to late dacoit queen Phoolan Devi's former colleague Sadhu Singh, who along with two others were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police from his house in Bhind town on February 22.

He assured a thorough investigation into the lapses as pointed out by Mr Ramlakhan Sharma(CPI-M) and Mr Indrajit Kumar Patel(Cong), who raised the issue through a call attention notice.

He said Sadhu Singh had surrendered along with Phoolan Devi in Bhind on February 12, 1983 and was now active in Uttar Pradesh after forming his own gang. Sadhu Singh along with Ravisen Jain and Ruby Chouhan were arrested by the UP police from the latter's house, he said.

Mr Singh said the police had no information that the trio were planning to murder former state minister Choudhary Rakesh Singh. Mr Sharma alleged Ruby and Ravisen had threatened to eliminate him and his family.
