Chapchar Kut celebrated with traditional gaiety in Mizoram

Aizawl, Mar 10 (UNI) Mizoram's premier festival 'Chapchar Kut' is being celebrated across the state with traditional gaiety.

Organising committee, chaired by state's chief secretary Haukhum Hauzel, has arranged things in such a way that mass participation by the public would be possible at the capital city.

The two-day festival would consist of competition in traditonal games and music, and traditional top spinning fight.

To make this festival a success, eight government departments and six NGOs are involved in the planning.

To add colour to the festival, exhibitions has been organised by the Industries department's handloom and handicraft wing and Khadi&Village Industries.

An exhibition of rare photographs on 100 years of tribal life in the state also been showcased in the festival by the information and public relation department.

A flower show has also been organised by the horticulture department.

Various cultural and official delegates from Tripura, Manipur and Meghalaya also participated in the festival.

The cultural troupe from Himachal Pradesh also staged a performance.
