Centre assures to help Delhi tide over summer power crisis

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) The Centre today assured Delhi government that there will be no shortage in availability of power to the city this summer.

Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde assured that Delhi would not be allowed to suffer due to lack of power this summer season, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said after a meeting with the minister here this evening.

City's monthly demand chart for the coming season had been handed over, details of which would be worked out between the Central and Union Power Secretaries in a meeting on March 14.

Delhi Power Minister Haroon Yusuf as well as Central and Union Power Secretaries attended the meeting that lasted about half an hour.

The capital had a peak electricity demand of 3626 mw last summer that was expected to grow another 400 mw this year.
