Bomb hoax twice at Old Delhi Railway station
New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) The booking counter section of the Old Delhi railway station was evacuated twice today due to bomb hoax, a senior Northern Railway official said.
People at the busy booking counter within the station reported an unclaimed luggage at 1700 hrs triggering panic.
Immediately, bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs were pressed into action. After an extensive search for about half-an-hour police declared it to be a hoax, the official said.
Later at around 2000 hrs, people reported another unclaimed bag in the same hall.
Police again checked the entire hall thoroughly and did not find any explosives, he added.
After March 7 Varanasi twin blasts, in which at least 13 people were killed and 30 others injured, a high alert was sounded in the Capital with additional forces deployed and patrolling increased at sensitive points.
The first blast ripped through the packed Sankatmochan Temple at around 1830 hrs, while the second blast occurred at the busy Cantonment railway station just 10 minutes later.
