Biennial elections for five Rajya Sabha seats from Bengal
Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) The Biennial elections for five Rajya Sabha seats from West Bengal will be held on March 28.
A notification, issued by the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Secretariat here today, said the nomination papers for the seats could be submitted till March 17, while their scrutiny would be done the next day. The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers had been fixed on March 20 and the election, if any, would he held by the members on March 28, the notification said.
Of the five seats four belong to the ruling Left Front in West Bengal, while the other to the opposition Trinamool Congress.
Incidentally the Left Front yesterday announced the names of all the four candidatesfor the vacant seats. They are Saman Pathak, Mr Manul Hasan, Tapan Sen (all CPI-M) and Dr Barun Mukherjee (Forward Bloc).
Trinamool Congress is, however, yet to declare the name of its candidate.
