Banks disburse Rs 940.27 cr under various sectors in J
Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Banks have disbursed Rs 940.27 crore against the annual target of Rs 1076.73 crore to 57,873 beneficiaries under various sectors in the state, an official statement said here today.
According to the State Level Bankers' Committee meeting held yesterday, about 87 per cent of the annual target in financial terms has been achieved as on ending December 2005.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Reserve Bank of India, NABARD and Jammu and Kashmir Bank besides those of the government departments.
Under the farm sector, the banks have provided credit of Rs 206.71 crore to 30,407 beneficiaries against an annual target of Rs 352.48 crore, registering an achievement of 59 per cent.
In the non-farm sector, the banks have disbursed Rs 285.01 crore amongst 3,386 beneficiaries against an annual target of Rs 232.92 crore, achieving 122 per cent of the target.
Under the Services Sector, the banks have extended a credit of Rs 448.55 crore to 24,080 beneficiaries against an annual target of Rs 491.33 Crore, thus achieving 91 per cent of the target.
Similarly in six major government sponsored schemes, the banks have disbursed an amount of Rs 67.16 crore to 8,145 beneficiaries against the target of Rs 233.43 crore for 25,344 beneficiaries thereby achieving 32 per cent and 29 per cent of the target in physical and financial terms respectively.
The meeting decided that the banks should make all-out efforts to achieve physical targets in all the sectors and improve the performance under the government sponsored schemes.
It was noted that out of the total achievement of Rs 940.27 crore by the banks during the period, the contribution of the Jammu and Kashmir alone has been to the tune of Rs 452.89 crore.
This is 48 per cent of the total achievement by all the banks, the statement said.
