5 killed, 4 injured as thunderbolt strikes them

Gulbarga, Mar 10 (UNI) Five people were charred to death and four sustained burns when they were struck by a thunderbolt at Batagera village in this district of Karnataka today.

The police said the victims were taking shelter under a tree due to heavy rain when the mishap occurred.

The police identified the victims as Nagappa (26), Ramesh (20), Ayappa (14), Narasappa (19) and Mahadevappa (12).

The injured were admitted to a hospital.
