Widespread rains in North West region
Chandigarh, Mar 9 (UNI) Most parts of north-west India exprienced rains today, breaking a dry spell in the region.
The rains were followed by dark clouds, even as the minimum temperature stayed two degrees to six degrees above normal in Punjab and Haryana.
Several areas in Punjab, including the Doaba region, also experienced rainfall. Patiala recorded 0.9 mm rain- all till 0830 hours.
In Haryana, Hissar recorded 0.6mm rainfall, while Ambala reported 0.7 mm.
Many areas in Himachal Pradesh experienced cloudy weather and low temperature. Solang nullah in Kullu district recorded 0.4 mm rainfall.
Chandigarh and its adjoining areas were lashed by rains, accompanied by strong winds. The city recorded 0.6 mm rainfall till this morning.
The Met Office has forecast light to moderate rain or snow at many places in Himachal Pradesh and light to moderate rain or thundershowers at few places in Haryana and Punjab during the next 24 hours.
It has also predicted hailstorm or thundersquall with wind speed exceeding 45 km per hour at isolated places in the region during the period.
