Undertrial escapes from running train

Rajkot, Mar 9 (UNI) An undertrial, held under the Prevention of Anti Social Activities Act (PASA), escaped from a running train near Wankaner station last evening, police said today.

According to the police, Kirit Shantilal Barot (35) was being brought to Jamnagar from Mehsana in Ahmedabad by two armed constables Kisorebhai Dave and Babubhai Dutabhai, when he jumped off from the running train near Wankaner railway station and fled under the cover of darkness.

The accused had been produced before a Mehsana court yesterday.

An offence has been registered against the two constables for dereliction of duty while a man hunt has been launched to trace the undertrial.
