UANF cadre killed in encounter

Shillong, Mar 9 (UNI) A cadre of suspected United Achik National Front was killed in an encounter near Zigzag about 60 km from Tura, district headquarters of West Garo Hills.

Meghalaya DGP W R Marbaninag said here today that the encounter took place last evening.

According to reports, search teams had been rushed to the site of incident which is covered by dense jungle.

With banned Achik National Volunteer Council now in a ceaserfire agreement with the Centre, the newly launched UANF was seen as active in the Garo Hills.
