Pondicherry, Mar 9 (UNI) The Tamil Manila Congress (TMC) is yet take a decision on alliance with any political party, its President Theni C Jayakumar, MLA, said here today.

Addressing a press conference, Mr Jayakumar said ''let the major parties complete the exercise. The TMC will then initiate talks.'' As far as Pondicherry was concerned, candidates rather than symbols mattered the most. The TMC had worked a lot for the people in the last five years and it will enter into alliance with a combine which allocated at least five seats to it.

The TMC will like to contest five seats in Pondicherry region and a five-member committee had been constituted to identify the seats and hold talks with other parties.

If the alliance did not materialise, the party will contest five seats alone, including reserved constituencies, the TMC leader added.

Asked whether the TMC would part ways with the Congress to which it was extending support currently, Mr Jayakumar said till today, he had kept up the promise given to their former Chief G K Mooppanaar.

Even when he experienced trouble from the government, he did not take any decision against the Congress.''Politics is not a business to me,'' he said.

Mr Jayakumar alleged there were some anomalies in the voters list published with the same person having vote in two constituencies.

The party was making a detailed report on the issue and the Election Commission will be approached with adequate evidence to seek redressal.
