TKM may break even this year with expected 37% sales growth

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) today said it is expected to break-even after wiping out accumulated losses this year.

The company is expected to achieve 37 per cent sales growth led by its multi-utility vehicle Innova, TKM Managing Director K K Swami told mediapersons here while launching the new luxury sedan Camry.

He said TKM was looking at a total sales of 56,000 units this year as against over 40,700 units sold in 2005, aiming at a growth of 37 per cent.

Replying to a query about the break up of the sales target, Mr Swamy said the company expected to sell about 44,000 units of Innova, 10,000 units of Corolla, 1000 units of Camry and 250 units of Prado.

The company has so far invested Rs 2,400 crore in the Indian market. While Toyota owns 89 per cent in the joint venture, 11 per cent belongs to the Kirloskars.

The new Camry will be available in both manual as well as automatic transmission versions.

It has a 2.4 L four cylinder VVT-i engine and advanced features like Plasmacluster airconditioner for providing enhanced driving comfort specially to front seat, a multifunctional steering, enhanced seat sliding space, antilock breaking system, vehicle stability control system, which prevents lateral skidding and provides stability at all speeds.

The car is priced at Rs 21.45 lakh for the automatic version and Rs 19.83 lakh for the manual transmission version.
