Ten shops gutted in fire

Itanagar, Mar 9: In all ten CGI sheet-roofed shops along with merchandise here were completely destroyed in a fire accident in the wee hours today (Mar 9, 2006).

Though there was no report of any injury or casualty, the shop owners could not save anything as the fire reportedly started by short circuit spread fast because it resulted in two gas cylinder explosion, fire brigade sources informed.

Four fire tenders with the help of 12 firemen fought for 90 minutes to contain the blaze.

Meanwhile, expressing shock at the mishap and heavy loss caused to the traders and building owners, City BJP unit has urged the Papum Pare district administration and local MLA to provide necessary relief to the victims.
