Tech bill to be introduced in Parliament : Cabinet

New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) The government today decided to introduce the National Institutes of Technology Bill 2006 in Parliament and bring all the 19 National Institutes of Technology within the ambit of the Act.

The decision, taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, would enable the National Institutes of Technology to become centres of excellence like IITs and help fulfil the need of the country for quality manpower in the field of engineering, science and technology.

The announcement was made by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi.
