Speaker admits opposition members demand
Ranchi, Mar 9 (UNI) Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Inder Singh Namdhari today announced in the House that a committee would be constituted to inquire into the alleged irregularities in engaging a Singapore based company to improve the sewerage and drainage system in the capital.
The opposition members had disrupted the proceedings of the house since Tuesday, demanding an inquiry into the government decision to engage the foreign company.
During the discussions on a short notice question, the opposition members today alleged that that there were irregularities in the deal and a house committee should be constituted to inquire into it.
While the opposition members, including Mr Pradeep Balmuchu (Congress) and Mr Binod Singh (CPI-ML) had strongly opposed the engaging of the foreign company JD(U) member Radhkrishna Kishore said there was no need to engage the foreign company and an inquiry should conducted.
However, replying to the opposition members allegations, Finance Minister Raghubor Das defended the government's decision and said there was nothing wrong in engaging a foreign company as a consultant.
Expressing dissatisfaction, the opposition members created a furore inside the House. Soon after, the Speaker announced the constitution a House committee.
