Six die after consuming spirit in Sangrur

Sangrur, Mar 9 (UNI) Six persons died in the town after allegedly consuming spirit.

SSP Harinder singh Chahal when contacted today confirmed the deaths of four persons all of whom died at the civil hospital yesterday night. Two others breathed their last at their respective residences.

Offical sources confirmed the postmortem of only one of the deceased identified as Naresh Kumar of Dhar Basti locality.He had consumed spirit last night and today in the morning when his condition deteriorated he was admitted to the civil hospital where he died in the afternoon.

The other deceased were identified as Laadi, Darshan, Kaka Singh a laborer, Rajinder Singh and Pappu. They all belonged to differnt areas in the town.

The SSP has formed a three member team headed by SP (Hq) Dharam Singh to investigate the deaths and submit a report within 24 hours.

He said that investigations would reveal the source of the spirit and whether the deceased had consumed it together or seprately.

A case had been registered in this connection.
