Allahabad, Mar 9 (UNI) VHP president Ashok Singhal today asked the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh Government to check terrorist activities in order to keep the communal fabric intact.

After returning from Varanasi, Mr Singhal told mediapersons that the terrorist attack in the temple town was an assault on the religion, culture and society.

He said the Parishad had decided to organise peaceful demonstrations and meetings in the country on March 11 and 14 and reciting of 'Hanuman Chalisas' in Lord Hanuman temples.

''The government should also ban organisations, which are helping terrorists,'' Mr Singhal said.

He observed the community does not depend on political parties for their safety and was ready to face any kind of situation. ''The political leaders only shed crocodile tears for votes.'' Demanding immediate ban on madarsas, the VHP president expressed fear of another terrorist attack at Ayodhya and other religious places.
