Rs 32.9 cr relief for 610 quake victims of Baramulla
Srinagar, Mar 9 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has released Rs 32.9 crore for about 610 earthquake victims in eight tehsils of the border district of Baramulla, an official spokesman said today.
An amount of Rs 10 crore each was released for Baramulla and Sopre tehsils, Rs four crore for Rafiabad, Rs 3 crore for Pattan, Rs 2 crore each for Tangmarg and Bandipora, Rs 1 crore for Sonawari and Rs 9.19 lakh for Gurez, he added.
For Uri tehsil, the spokesman said the required amount of relief would be released after receiving the assessment statement from the revenue agencies.
At a meeting in Baramulla yesterday, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hameed asked the quake survivors to contact the Tehsildars concerned to receive their cheques.
The distribution of relief cheques had started on March 3 and would be completed by March 15, the spokesman added.
He said the entire process would be monitored by a committee comprising Additional Deputy Commissioner as its Chairman and Assistant Commissioner Revenue as the Nodal officer.
