Shimla, Mar 9 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Assembly today passed the Criminal Law (Himachal Pradesh Amendment) Bill, 2006, which bans feeding monkeys in public places.
The bill, introduced in the state assembly by Excise and Taxation Minister Rangila Ram Rao, was passed by a voice vote.
It bans feeding of monkeys in public places and proposes imprisonment of one month or fine of Rs 1,000 or both to peolple who feed monkeys in public places.
The Bill amends the Indian Penal Code (Act 45 of 1860) and the code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Act no 2 of 1974).
