Police raids against criminals in Bengal
Barasat, Mar 9 (UNI) Altogether 433 criminals were taken into custody today following night long raids in different parts of North 24 Parganas.
The arrested included 157 criminals facing non-bailable warrants, pending for a long time.
Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar said police also arrested 28 people under special cases while rounding up 248 people as a preventive measure keeping in view the coming state Assembly elections.
A total of seven fire arms and some ammunition were also seized from the criminals, Mr Kumar said.
Earlier, during three such raids, police arrested nearly six hundred people against whom arrest warrants were pending with the Election Commission order.
