Pathanjali upsets second seed, sails into semis
New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) Pathanjali Ravishankar pulled the rug from under the feet of second seed Sarvar Ikramov of Uzbekistan, scripting the biggest upset of the day before sailing into the semifinal of the ITF Satellite tennis circuit third leg at the DLTA Complex here today.
Pushed to the brink after losing the first set, the Chennai lad came back strongly in the game and took the sail out of the Uzbek's win to run away with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win.
Navdeep Singh also had to toil in the middke before he overcame compatriot Mustafa Ghouse 4-6, 7-6(1), 6-4 to set up a semifinal clash with Ravishankar.
Top seeded Australian Herbert Wiltschnig meant business as he tamed local favourite Vijay Kannan 6-4,6-2 while fifth seed Federico Torresi beat Philippine qualifier Patrick Tierro 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1 to reach the last four stage.
