One killed in bomb blast at Chitrakoot railway station

Chitrakoot (UP), Mar 9: Close on the heels of twin blasts in Varanasi on Tuesday (Mar 9, 2006), a person was killed in a bomb explosion at the railway station in this religious town.

The explosive device was apparently attached to the belly of the deceased.

According to the District Police Chief Shachi Ghildiyal, it was too early to suggest whether he was a suicide bomber or a 'fidayeen' as the bomb was not very powerful.

The blast was reportedly triggered when the man slipped near a toilet close to platform number two of Chitrakkot Dham railway station late last night.

The body of the deceased was blown to bits and his identity could not be established immediately.

The motive of the victim was not known but the diary which was found in his possesion had phone numbers of different places, Ms Ghildiyal said.

''The presence of such a suspicious person in the otherwise tranquil town of Chitrakoot, is a matter of investigation,'' she said.

While the investigation was on, the first priority was to identify the person, the District SP said.
