Nagaland to have comprehensive sports policy soon: Rio
Kohima, Mar 9 (UNI) Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today said that his government would soon announce a comprehensive policy for promotion of sporting activity across the state.
He also announced if any player representing the state achieved distinction in international arena and bring medal then the government will reward Rs. 6 lakh for the gold, Rs 3 lakh for silver and Rs one lakh for bronze medal.
After inaugurating the Nagaland wrestling meet here this morning, Mr Rio said that the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) was committed to fulfilling the sports policy with a promise to encourage youths in taking sporting acitivities.
The state government had declared the 2005 -2006 as the ''year of youth empowerment''.
He maintained that the Naga youths have tremendous potentials in every discipline of sports and appreciated the interest shown by the younger generation in various sporting activity. He appealed to them to work hard and bring laurals for the state.
He also announced some cash awards for the winners of national level/regional/state level winners.
