Kozhikode, Mar 9 (UNI) The Indian National League (INL) in Kerala today said efforts would be made to ensure the defeat of the Congress-led United Democratic Front in the coming Assembly poll in the state.

Aimed at achieving this goal, the party had decided to undertake relentless election campaign in all the 140 constituencies to end the ''mis-rule'' of the UDF conglomeration, INL state general secretary P M A Salaam told reporters after a secretariat and working committee meeting.

He said the INL had not raised demand for a specific number of seats, but the party was hopeful of appropriate seat allocation by the Opposition Left Democratic Front while considering its potential and strength in various constituencies in the state.

He said a final decision on the issue would be taken at the LDF meeting to be held at Thiruvanthapuram on March 18.

After the seat allocation by the LDF, the INL parliamentary board would decide the candidates to be fielded in various constituencies, he said.

Hailing the Supreme Court verdict on Zaheera Sheikh, a key witness in Best Bakery case, he said the day-long meeting had adopted resolution urging the government reopen the Kozhikode ice cream parlour sex scandal case in which all the accused were acquitted after witnesses turned hostile en masse.

Another resolution was also adopted criticising the government's ''failure'' to provide security cover to a convoy carrying SSLC question paper in the district, he said.
