Indian eves pound Bangladesh 10-0, into main round of AFC U-19
New Delhi, Mar 9 (UNI) A draw would have been enough to book a berth for the main round of the AFC Under-19 Football Championship but Bala Devi and Lal Varmoi shared seven goals between them as India pounded a hapless Bangladesh 10-0 in the qualifier here today.
The hosts had humiliated Kyrghyzstan 7-0 in their first match and they were in ominous form yet again scoring five goals in each half.
Bala Devi opened the floodgate in the ninth minute and that unhinged the Bangla citadel which crumbled under pressure from the marauding Indian forwards.
Apart from Bala Devi (9th, 39th, 66th, 78th ) and Lal Varmoi (33rd, 41st, 77th) other scorers for the hosts were Sasmita Malik (22nd, 59th) and Manpreet Kaur (38th).
India thus sailed into the final round of the tournament scheduled to be played in Malaysia in April.
