Indian awarded 'Best Singapore Travel Experience'

Chennai, Mar 9 (UNI) Indian, the state-owned domestic airline, was awarded the 'Best Singapore Travel Experience' at the recently-held 20th Tourism Board Award function in Singapore.

The awards were especially held to honour individuals and organisations who had made significant contributions to the tourism industry through excellence in serivice, innovation, creativity and commitment in creating unique Singapore experiences for tourists, a release from the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said.

The award-winning package was designed with affordability in mind for the student community and developed with support from the STB and offered to schools in Tamil Nadu in July 2005.

About 800 students from Tamil Nadu travelled on this promotion from July 2005 to January 2006.More groups are slated to travel in May to June 2006, the release added.

The travel package covered return airfare (Chennai-Singapore- Chennai), accommodation, food and a special escort for the visit.

Itineraries were customized and schools could choose either a science focus itinerary or a culture itinerary or a mix of both, it said.
