I will prefer to take 'Sanyas' : Chandramohan Rai
Patna, Mar 9 (UNI) Bihar Health Minister Chandramohan Rai today said he would prefer to take 'sanyas' from the public life than take lessons from the previous RJD government.
Replying to a debate on the budgetary demands of his department worth over Rs 1083.30 crore in the state assembly, Mr Rai said the entire infrastructure had crumbled down during the regime of the RJD and the NDA government ''inherited'' a department where complete anarchy prevailed.
Earlier, Mr Rai tendered an apology for not tabling the department's annual report in the House due to technical reasons.
The opposition members, however, staged a walkout over a report of female foeticide in a nursing home. The matter was exposed by a sting operation of a private TV channel.
Mr Rai said no appointment of doctor or para medical staff had been made during the last 20 years. He said recommendations were made by Bihar Public Service Commission for appointment of 1000 doctors in 1997, but the previous government did nothing and the matter subsequently got embroiled in legal hiccups.
He said the health department had been converted into one where only transfers and postings were made. He asserted that efforts were being made to change the situation since installation of the Nitish Kumar government and even Union Health Minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss applauded the state government's initiatives.
