Hyd would be soon covered under the Megacity Policing norms

Hyderabad, Mar 9 (UNI) Hyderabad City Police Commissioner A K Mohanty today announced that the city would soon be covered under the guidelines of Megacity Policing of India with a sanction of Rs 3 crore by the Centre and Rs 1 crore by the state government, to improve policing.

Reviewing the crime situation in the month of February here, Mr Mohanty said Hyderabad was all set to expand in all directions and be identified as a megacity.

He said the first instalment of the fund of Rs 4 crores from the Centre and the state for the modernisation would be obtained soon.

In the subsequent instalments, more funds would be released.

Mr Mohanty said already a megacity policing plan and requirement of funds had been prepared. Though the Centre did not include additional manpower component in the megacity package, it was being sought.

The Commissioner said a fully advanced City Police Command Control Centre' would be set up as part of Megacity policing.
