HBCKN reduces interest rates

Chandigarh, Mar 9 (UNI) The Haryana Backward Classes and Economically Weaker Sections Kalyan Nigam (HBCKN) has decided to reduce the rate of interest for its beneficiaries by one per cent besides introducing a new house-cum-shed scheme under which Rs one lakh would be provided to 1000 beneficiaries at three per cent interest.

Disclosing this here today, Haryana Commissioner and Secretary, Social Welfare, Dr Dalip Singh, said the Nigam has decided to provide Rs 49 crore as loan to 8600 persons in order of enable them take up self-employment ventures during the next financial year.

Dr Singh said the Nigam ''has provided self-employment to 65,000 people-so far and disbursed Rs 80 crore as loan on liberal terms.

During the current financial year, Rs five crore has been disbursed among 1400 persons of the target group.'' He said HBCKN has been nominated to organise northern India International Trade Fair in Chandigarh to be inaugurated by Haryana Governor, Dr A R Kidwai on March 11.
