Haryana to set up special tourism zone

Chandigarh, Mar 9 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to set up a special tourism zone, besides promoting religious, cultural and historic tourism, Minister of State for Tourism Mrs Kiran Choudhary today said. Addressing mediapersons at village Gandholi in Ambala district, 58 km from here, after laying the foundation stone of sub-surface dam today, she said that efforts would also be made to set up eco-tourism in Shivalik Hills so as to attract more tourists to enjoy the hilly terrain.

She hoped that about 40 crore tourists would visit India during the next year and the department aims at to attracting the maximum numbers of tourists to Haryana.

The Minister said that a national level programme would also be organised on the occasion of the completion of 400 years of Pinjore Heritage Garden. Such programme would also be organised in different parts of the state.

Mrs Choudhary said that a plan was being formulated by the tourism department and thrust would be given to promote religious, cultural and historical tourism in the state.

She informed crafts fair would be organsied at Karnal on March 17 in which a number of craftsmen would take part. For promoting historical tourism, Raja Nahar Singh and Hansi Forts would soon be renovated, she added.
