Chandigarh, Mar 9 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said that the people in the state were feeling satisfied as a result of the number of welfare schemes being implemented by his government.

The gathering at the Hisar rally on March five was proof of their contentment as they had come of their own to attend the rally, he said while denying allegations levelled by INLD leader Ajay Singh Chautala that no new announcement had been made by the present government at the Hisar rally which was organised on the completion of one year rule of the Hooda government.

The Chief Minister who was talking to mediapersons here said that the new announcements included enhancement in the wages of village chowkidars from Rs 400 to Rs 1000 per month, sympathetic consideration in giving employment to those whose services were retrenched by the previous government and introduction of an insurance scheme named after former prime minister the late Mr Rajiv Gandhi.

When his attention was drawn to reports that the Rajiv Gandhi Insurance Scheme would not be different from Devirakshak Scheme implemented by the previous government, Mr Hooda said that the new scheme would benefit all sections of the society with an insurance cover of Rs one lakh in case of death in an accident. All residents of the state between the age of 18 and 60 years would be covered.

He made it clear that the insurance scheme announced by the previous government did not benefit such a large number of persons.

Also, the norms of the scheme were so rigid that the scheme failed to serve its purpose, he added.

When asked to comment on the inquiry against former Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala to be conducted by the CBI, he said that the Supreme Court has already given directons for a CBI inquiry. He claimed that Mr Chautala during his tenure had got false cases registered against politians, but the CBI inquiry would be impartial.

The Chief minister denied that Manu, son of state Power Minister, Vinod Sharma who was recently acquited in the Jessica Lal murder case, had stayed at his official residence after his release. He described as totally baseless and concocted stories in this regard.
