Chandigarh, Mar 9 (UNI) The Haryana AIDS Control Society would provide free counselling and testing during the nine-day Northern India International Trade Fair, beginning here on March 11.

''The Society will participate in the fair to bring an awareness among people on health issues such as HIV AIDS,'' its Project Director Dr N K Sharma said. He said ''awareness'' was the only solution to control the spread of the dreaded disease.

Dr Sharma said the Prevention of Parent to Child Transmission Centres (PPTCT) had also been set up in all district hospitals. ''The centres provides free counselling and testing of HIV besides free treatment if tested positive.'' ''The society has also sponsored 16 non-government organisations (NGOs) to work in high risk areas like commercial sex workers and truckers to bring an end to the disease,'' he added.
